Masters Week

It's finally Masters Week, yet another passage of spring. The weather looks great. Much better than last year when it was freezing cold. My yard is looking good too...it's growing like gangbusters. It'll be fun to watch the Par 3 at work tomorrow streaming on ESPN.

Kansas won the national championship...Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

The only thing that stinks about this time of year is the allergies!

Snow somewhat of a bust and basketball

We did get some snow on Saturday, not nearly as much as Columbus, who got 20" or Cincinnati, which got 10"+, but still snow nonetheless. However it did not stick to anything, and there was no traffic problems. Alabama got accumulating snow, but it quickly melted. Jackson got some real snow, and Memphis got 6"+. Now it's back to the 60's (hopefully for good), and some sun.

The ACC tournament also starts this weekend. We play Georgia Tech on Thursday night at 7PM EDT (thank you Daylight Savings) on ESPN2HD. We then HOPEFULLY play Duke on Friday night.

Finally, Saturday Night Live has been hilarious lately with its parodies of the Election, esp. this week with the "3 AM Call".

ACC Friday

The ACC tournament is on....790 the AM Georgia Tech station is broadcasting it through the internet. I'm at my desk with almost nothing to do, waiting for a report to come in so I can file it online. Until that happens though I have to wait.

All the "better" teams lost in the tourney yesterday. Hopefully that doesn't mean bad things for UVa. However, Carolina is rolling, and N.C. State should be tired after going Overtime with Duke yesterday (Thank the Lord we don't have to play Duke!!!).

We shall see...hopefully I can sneak out of here between SEC games and go watch at home...lots of Kentucky Wildcats around here today though!

March comes in like a lion...

Ok, I'm sure I'm not the only one that has said that, but it is a stormy day today. Nothing too severe yet, but I can't see out my window and it's pitch black out. There are tornadoes in southern Alabama and southern Mississippi, but then again, when aren't there tornadoes there? Reminds me of a joke:

What's the similarity between an Alabama tornado & an Alabama divorce?
A: Either way someone is going to lose a trailer.

I was looking today at tours of Southfork Ranch in Collin County, Texas. It's $9.50/person, but I think well worth the money & the 28 mile trip up from Dallas. I can hear the theme music now.

Also, El Nino is gone, which means 2007 might be a bad hurricane season for the Atlantic. We shall see. To make matters worse, not only is El Nino gone, but La Nina might be coming, which enhances hurricane activity.

UPDATE:
Looks like the most severe storms with Tornadoes are staying to the south of us, around Columbus and Macon. However, it is very dark here, unusual for just 5:40 at night.

Also, tonight is the HUGE VT/UVa game...whoever wins this is at least tied for 1st place in ACC play, and if Georgia Tech beats Carolina (here in Atlanta), the VT/UVa winner takes ACC outright (at least for now). Go Hoos! Go Ramblin' Wreck!

Heading down to South DeKalb

Ok, so call us crazy but we're driving 30 miles out to Stonecrest Mall/Lithonia to go eat at Chicken & Waffles tonight...partly to visit a friend who lives on the east side of Conyers.

UVa is just 1/2 game back from Boston College now & tied with VT and UNC for 2nd in the ACC standings. We've lost 3 games just like BC, but they've played 1 more (and won one more) than us. We need to be wary of FSU this weekend!!!

There is still a chance for snow on Saturday, but it's not looking promising. They have yet to issue any statements about it in Georgia, and have only gotten as close as middle Kentucky. It will be cold though...Freezing temperatures all the way to the MS/AL/FL Gulf beaches!
